PORTLAND — C. Jeanne Streeter, 100, of Portland and Medford, Mass., died Oct. 7 in Falmouth.

She was born in Sharon, Conn., Nov. 2, 1912, and raised by her grandparents. Her first job was at the telephone company at the age of 14, and she continued to work there after her graduation from Sharon High School.

In 1943, Streeter married her longtime sweetheart, Robert Winson, in Odessa, Texas, where he was based at Midland. After he was discharged, they settled in Medford, Mass.

Her husband was killed in an unexpected work accident in 1953, and Streeter was left to raise three young children on her own. When they were school age, she found employment in a local nursing home. Working with the elderly brought her great enjoyment, and she continued caring for them until she was in her 70s.

At the age of 90 she moved from her home in Medford to an independent living apartment overlooking Casco Bay, to be closer to her son and his family. She spent 10 happy years there.

The family celebrated her 100th birthday last November at Falmouth by the Sea with her favorite meal, lobster rolls, chips and a special cake.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her second husband, Howard Streeter; son Peter Winson; and grandson Michael Williamson.

She is survived by her son, Ron Winson, and wife, Andrea, of Portland; a daughter, Barbara Williamson, and husband, Al Hemingway, of Brooklyn, Conn.; grandsons Rob Winson, and wife, Heather, Matt Winson and Scott Williamson; and five great-grandchildren, Max, Wyatt, and Jillian Winson, and Amanda and Ashley Williamson.

The family would like to thank the great staff at 75 State St., for their care and concern, especially Tom, and her physician for 10 years, Dr. Hemphill.

The staff at Falmouth By the Sea will always be remembered for their kindness. No matter what position they held, they were ready with a smile and a wave. Thanks to Paul, Cassandra, Nancy, Daniel, Jadranka, Christine and Dr. Marino, the caring, dedicated staff on the 300 wing at Falmouth by the Sea who made her last year a comfortable one.

At the families request all services will be private. Internment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland.
