CUMBERLAND — Cindy Bullens, a Democrat, announced her candidacy in Senate District 11, after the withdrawal of Charles Kenney.

District 11 includes Cumberland, Chebeague Island, Falmouth, Gray, Yarmouth, North Yarmouth and Long Island.

Bullens is a twice Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, as well as a small business owner who manages two Maine-based music companies. She is also the co-founder and a director of the Jessie D. Bullens-Crewe Foundation and the Jessie B-C Fund. Both were named for her 11-year-old daughter, who died of complications during treatment for Hodgkin’s disease in 1996.

Sen. Gerald Davis, R-Falmouth, is the incumbent in the district. Chris Miller of Gray, a Maine Green Independent, and former independent Rep. Richard Woodbury of Yarmouth are the other candidates.
