SOUTH PORTLAND — Runners and walkers can enjoy Bug Light Park and surrounding neighborhoods beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday with the Bug Light 5K Run & Walk.
The course begins and ends at the park at the end of Madison Street and passes through the Southern Maine Community College campus and Willard Square area. Proceeds from the race go to the South Portland Historical Society and the South Portland Land Trust.
Prizes include $50 for the top male and female finishers, and $30 for the second-place finishers. Ribbons will be awarded to the top finishers in age groups.
The race is limited to 1,000 participants. Online registrations for $20 will be accepted until 5 p.m. Saturday at buglight5k.com. Registration forms can be mailed to Bug Light 5k, 55 Bug Light Park, South Portland, ME 04106. Make checks payable to Bug Light 5K.
If the race limit is not reached online, race-day registrations for $25 will be accepted from 7:15-8:30 a.m. Sunday at the park.
