BRUNSWICK — The town clerk’s office will open for three hours Saturday, Dec. 29, for people seeking marriage licenses.
That is the day same-sex marriage becomes legal in Maine under a statewide referendum passed in November.
Marriages will only be licensed by appointment that day every half hour between 9 a.m.-noon. Appointments can be made by calling the town clerk at 725-6658. Town staff will not perform any marriages.
The clerk is asking only those who plan to wed on Dec. 29 and 30 to schedule an appointment for that Saturday, because of the limited hours. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 31.
