BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Sewer District Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing Dec. 11 on a charter amendment that would double the agency’s debt limit to $40 million.

The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the board room at the district offices, 10 Pine Tree Road.

The district has a $20 million debt limit, but wants to increase it to finance a possible $22 million upgrade to its treatment plant.

If trustees approve the change it will be sent to the state Legislature. If approved there, it will have to be OK’d by Brunswick voters.

A voter referendum on the changes could come as soon as next June, but is more likely to be on the November 2015 ballot, district Director Leonard Blanchette said.
