9/21 at 6:22 p.m. Police responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street. According to police, the driver of a black Dodge Neon drove off after striking a Jeep SUV in front of Bill Dodge Auto. Witnesses said the fleeing driver was wearing a reflector vest typically worn by road workers. When police arrived they found the black Neon parked in Brunswick Ford. Police searched near the adjacent railroad tracks and discovered Steven B. Pinette, 47, of unknown address, heading west on the tracks, away from town. Pinette, who was reportedly still wearing the reflector vest, allegedly began running from two police officers. Once the officers caught up to him, police say Pinette resisted arrest, forcing them to deploy a Taser. Pinette was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, leaving scene of an accident involving personal injury, violation of condition of release and refusing to submit to arrest or detention. Police say the three passengers in the SUV that Pinette allegedly struck complained of neck pain, but were not transported to the hospital.
