Booze cruise

2/6 at 10:33 p.m. Six Bowdoin College students, and a high school student from Beverly, Mass., were summonsed by police on charges of possession of alcohol or consumption of liquor after a traffic stop on Watson Drive. All seven minors were passengers of a Mercury Mountaineer driven by Peter Armstrong Hamberger, 20, of 4430 Chalfont Place, Bethesda, Md. Hamberger was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence. According to police, an officer attempted to stop Hamberger on Harpswell Road after noticing his vehicle’s tail light was out. Police say Hamberger slowed down, but didn’t stop until pulling into the Watson Arena parking lot and hitting a snowbank.
