BRUNSWICK — The Police Department aided in a recent Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office bust of accused prostitutes and their customers.

The sheriff’s office announced Aug. 18 that 11 people were arrested in a sting that involved law enforcement agencies from Yarmouth, Brunswick and Bridgton.

Investigators made three arrests, including Norma Jean Greenleaf, 43, of Brunswick, after contacting escorts advertising on and and making appointments to meet with them.

A female sheriff’s deputy posed as an escort in a second sting operation, and received more than 150 calls from men seeking to pay for sex. As a result, eight men were arrested.

Brunswick police contributed one officer to the investigation.
