BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Naval Museum and Memorial Gardens will open its Friendship and Memorial Gardens for the season on Sunday, May 4.
They will continue to be open to the public on Sundays and Wednesdays, from 1-4 p.m. The gardens are also open at other times by appointment; to schedule an appointment, call John Briley at 729-7216.
The gardens are in two courtyards within the former Brunswick Naval Air Station chapel, now the Brunswick Naval Museum, at 179 Admiral Fitch Ave. at Brunswick Landing. They were the only privately established memorial on an operating naval base, and are preserved and maintained by the museum, the Harpswell Garden Club and the Brunswick Veterans’ Council.
