BRUNSWICK — The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority will receive more than half a million dollars in federal funds to promote economic development at Brunswick Landing, according to press release from U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine.

The grant will contribute $517,000 in Economic Development Administration funds toward MRRA’s plan to install and improve infrastructure; the total cost of the projects is just over $1 million.

The investment is expected to create 70 jobs, according to information provided by Pingree.

Ms. Pingree must know something I don’t know… If I add 1 million and 517,000.00 together, divide by 70 (number of jobs) I get about $21,671.43 for one year. If I divide that by 52 I come up with $416.76 per week. If I divide that by 40 (hours) I come up with about $10.42 per hour for pay… If I consider the overhead burden on payroll to be paid by the employer, either far less than 70 jobs will be created or the jobs will be so low paying help will be difficult to find… So my question to Ms. Pingree is how did she come up with the expectation of creating 70 jobs?
