The stirring run of the Brunswick High football team came to an end last Friday night at top-ranked Bangor in the Eastern Class A Final.

The third-ranked Dragons, who missed an undefeated regular season by just three points (an 18-15 loss to Messalonskee on Sept. 18), rolled past visiting No. 6 Cony 47-26 in the quarterfinals before upsetting No. 2 Lawrence 27-14 in the semis, but unbeaten Bangor proved to be too much.

The game was scoreless after one period. The Rams took the lead on a TD pass early in the second, but Brunswick came right back and drew even when senior quarterback Stefan Jensen found senior John Williams for a 24-yard scoring strike. The hosts took the lead for good on a TD run late in the first half, then tacked on a field goal in the third period and another TD in the fourth to win 24-7, ending the Dragons’ season at 9-2.
