BRUNSWICK — A free, public event on April 27 will mark the 10th year of World Tai Chi Day.

The celebration begins at 10 a.m. at the Walker Art Museum Quad at Bowdoin College, 245 Main St. Visitors will be able to participate in one hour of instruction from practitioner Ken Ryan of Maine Coast Taijiquan.

Ryan said the event will run in tandem with similar events across the world, which all begin at 10 a.m. in the local time zones of each community.

“It comes across the globe like some sort of performance art,” Ryan said, adding that photos and videos of the event will then be posted to a World Tai Chi Day website. “It’s such an interesting cross-section look at the world.”
