BRUNSWICK — Dog owners have until Jan. 30 to renew their licenses without incurring a late fee.

According to Town Clerk Fran Smith, there are 2,500 dogs registered in Brunswick, but only 1,100 owners have renewed their licenses for 2015.

Dog registration is required by state law. If the deadline is missed, owners will be forced to pay a $25 late fee, Smith said.

Registering a spayed or neutered dog for the year costs $6; a non-spayed or neutered dog costs $11.

The clerk’s office is on the second floor of the Brunswick Town Office, 85 Union St. and is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
