BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Executive Airport will receive more than $1.5 million in federal funds to install energy-efficient heating systems in two hangars.

The funding, which will pay for radiant systems in Hangar 4 and Hangar 5, comes from the Federal Aviation Adminstration’s Military Airport Program. According to a press release, the airport’s new Hanger 6 already employs radiant heating “at a fraction of the cost.”

The funding was announced in a joint statement released Aug. 25 by U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, an independent.

“Brunswick Executive Airport is a tremendous asset for the businesses located in Brunswick Landing as well as the surrounding communities. This investment will help increase the airport’s energy efficiency, benefiting the diverse users of the facility,” the statement said.
