Yarmouth senior Josh Britten capped his superb season Monday evening by winning the Bob Butler Award at the Western Maine Conference awards banquet in South Portland. Britten, a Mr. Maine Basketball semifinalist, scored 29 points to lead the Clippers to the Class B title on March 2.
Falmouth’s Matt Packard and Poland’s Jake Littlefield were also in contention for the award.
The award is given to a male and a female senior basketball player who best exemplifies good citizenship, sportsmanship, leadership, dedication and overall court performance and is named for the former York High School athletic director, teacher, coach and Heal Points statistician.
Traip Academy’s Selena Lorrey won the girls’ award. Falmouth’s Jackie Doyle and Yarmouth’s Morgan Cahill were also under consideration.
