FALMOUTH — Maine Department of Transportation crews on Sunday began replacing a bridge joint on the Interstate 295 Presumpscot River Bridge.

The work on the southbound bridge will close one lane between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Saturday for the next three weeks.

Speeds will be reduced to 55 mph in the work zone, and motorists are encouraged to drive with caution during daytime hours because the construction area will be covered by an elevated steel plate.
