BATH — Brian Paul Lewis, 69, of Pearl Street, died Dec. 23 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

Lewis was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Biddeford, the son of Harold and Althea Lewis. He graduated from Biddeford High School in 1964, and then joined the U. S. Army, serving in New Mexico. Following his military service, he returned to Maine and married Nancy P. Dube in 1968.

Lewis worked at Bath Iron Works for 17 years, and later at St. Mary’s Church in Bath, before retiring in 2007. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, served as grand knight and held many local and state seats within the organization.

Always willing to help others, whether they needed a ride to the store or a driveway shoveled, Lewis greatly enjoyed time with his neighbors, friends and family. He recently attended his 50th high-school reunion and talked enthusiastically about the many classmates with whom he reconnected.

Lewis was predeceased by his wife, his parents and his brother, Robert Lewis.

Surviving him are his daughters, Sharon Lewis, of Durham, and Michelle Brann and husband, Gerald, of Bath; a granddaughter, Kristen Brann; sisters-in-law, Pauline Aportria and husband, Jim, Sally MacLean and husband, Charles, and Jane LeBrun; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held Jan. 5 at Desmond’s Funeral Home, in Bath, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be held in Biddeford in the spring.
