FREEPORT — Brent Parker Hixon Jr., 54, of Westbrook, formerly of Freeport, died at home July 22, after a long illness.

He was born at Miles Memorial Hospital, Damariscotta May 13, 1959, to Brent and Brenda Hixon. The family eventually moved and he spent his childhood years growing up in Woolwich. He graduated from Morse High School, Bath at the top of his class and went on to graduate from Thomas College, Waterville, also at the top of his class, with a degree in business.

Hixon worked in retail management for most of his life and eventually moved to California, where his business gave him the opportunity to travel the United States extensively. About 10 years ago, he moved and retired in Maine where he lived in Woolwich, Caribou, Freeport and recently Westbrook.

Hixon enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading Stephen King, the ocean and had a huge passion for all types of music. Barbara Streisand was his favorite, along with his most recent favorite, Adele. He also loved animals, especially his two dogs Ulysses and puppy, Ginger.

He was predeceased by his father, Brent Parker Hixon Sr. and his long-time friend, Michael Frank Kelske.

Hixon is survived by his mother Brenda Hixon, of Freeport; brother Randy Hixon and wife Diana and their children Lauren and Megan, of Bath; brother Kenneth Hixon and wife Kelli and their children Noah and Emma; sister Lori Stilkey and husband Chris and their children Erik, Kyle, Chandler, Jarod, Lana, Alex and Joshua, of Freeport and sister Joy Hixon, of Freeport.

At Hixon’s request, there were no funeral services held.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Desmond Funeral Home, of Bath and Lighthouse Crematory, of Freeport for all the care they took and all they have done.
