Bowdoin to host Angela Davis, Oxford scholar

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College will host two noted speakers next week.

Educator, author, socialist and political activist Angela Davis will visit the campus at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, in Pickard Theater, Memorial Hall, for “A Conversation with Angela Davis.”

The talk is presented by the Bowdoin Africana Studies and Gender and Women’s Studies programs and is open to the public. Admission is free, but tickets are required and are available at the David Saul Smith Union information desk on campus. Call 725-3375.

The following day, John Gold, an urban and architectural historian at Oxford University, will discuss the first-ever “sustainable” Olympic Games scheduled for 2012 in London. His talk will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in Kresge Auditorium in the Visual Arts Center.
