BRUNSWICK — Music historian Michael Lasser will examine America’s popular songs written during the Great Depression in an April 21 lecture at Bowdoin College.

The discussion will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Beam Classroom of the Visual Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The lecture, titled “All the Old Familiar Places: Love Songs of Depression and War,” will explain how America met the emotional challenges of two crises, the Great Depression and World War II.
