Bowdoin’s men’s and women’s basketball teams continue to win their share of games in recent action.
SUBHEAD-Women’s basketball
Bowdoin’s women’s basketball team is now 12-3 on the year after bouncing back from a 64-59 loss at Bates with wins at Emmanuel (75-50) and Clark (86-49). In defeat, Katie Bergeron had 20 points. Against Emmanuel, Bergeron again led the way with 17 points. Colleen Sweeney and Jill Henrikson had 12 points apiece against Clark. The Polar Bears begin NESCAC play Saturday at Colby.
SUBHEAD-Men’s basketball
The Bowdoin men’s basketball team defeated visiting Thomas 74-58 and host U. Maine-Farmington 61-48 in recent action to improve to 10-3 on the season. Against Thomas, Mark Phillips had 23 points and 12 rebounds. Randy Defeo led the team versus UMF, scoring 12 points. Bowdoin is back in action Saturday at Colby.
SUBHEAD-Men’s hockey
The Bowdoin men’s hockey team fell to 6-4-1 on the year after a home loss to New England College (4-2) and a loss at Saint Anselm (3-2). Jeff Fanning and Brendan Reich scored against NEC, Mike Corbelle and Kyle Hanson scored versus Saint Anselm. The Polar Bears close Dayton Arena Friday when they host Middlebury. Sunday they open Watson Arena when they host Williams.
SUBHEAD-Women’s hockey
The Bowdoin women’s hockey team lost 3-1 to visiting Williams last Friday and fell 8-1 to visiting Middlebury Saturday. Tuesday, the Polar Bears bounced back and improved to 2-7 on the season with a dramatic 7-6 overtime win at Sacred Heart. Kate Pokrass had the goal in the losses to the Ephs and Panthers. Against Sacred Heart, Dominique Lozzi had the winner. Kelly Keebler stopped 30 shots. Bowdoin hosts Wesleyan Saturday in the final game at Dayton Arena. Sunday, the Polar Bears welcome Hamilton in the first game at the new Watson Arena.
