PORTLAND — The public is invited to join city and Westbrook officials on a Sept. 30 walk and bike ride highlighting pedestrian and bicycling needs in the two cities.

Hosted by the Portland Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Westbrook Safe Mobility and Access Committee, the event begins at 10 a.m. at the Breakwater School near the intersection of Brighton Avenue and Capisic Street.

Organizers said there will first be an hour-long walk through the Nason’s Corner neighborhood in Portland, followed by an hour-long bike ride at a “conversational pace … that will highlight the bicycle connectivity needs between Portland and Westbrook.”

Lunch will follow the event. RSVP to  damon.yakovleff@gmail.com.
