BATH — Betty Joan Bowman, 49, of Bath, died Sept. 15 at her home, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Bowman was born Dec 10, 1965, in Chicago, a daughter of Richard G. and Georgiann (Bollin) Doucette. She grew up in Franklin, Wisconsin, and attended area schools until graduating high school.

She then joined the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Station. There, she met her future husband, Eric Bowman.

The couple were married in 1986 and began raising a family. After retiring from the Navy in 1989, Betty and her husband moved to Bath. She was employed as a seafood manager by Shaw’s Supermarkets, working at its Bath and Falmouth stores.

In her free time, Bowman enjoyed gardening, of both vegetables and flowers. Most of all, she enjoyed being with family and friends.

Bowman is survived by her husband, Eric; three daughters, Brandi, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Rachael, of Bath, and Tiffany, of Bath; her parents, Richard and Georgiann Doucette, of Franklin, Wisconsin; five sisters, Nancy, Debbie, Donna, Patty and Amy; several nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

At her request, there will be no public services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, 155 East 55th St., New York, NY 10022.
