South Portland residents Mickey Finn, left, Sandra Tamburri and Robert Tamburri unveil a bench Monday dedicated to survivors of the battle of Cu Chi, a 1966 Vietnam War battle that lasted more than two months in 1966. Tamburri, a U.S. Army veteran who fought in the battle, said the bench at the city Service Monument in Mill Creek Park will be a place “to reflect on war and sacrifice and also a place of peace.” The ceremony was part of the city’s annual observance of Veterans Day.

South Portland resident Dot Gildard joins Maggie, a golden doodle owned by Scarborough resident Sarah Lufkin, to watch the Veterans Day parade Monday at the corner of Broadway and Cottage Road.

Members of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corps complete a flag ceremony at the Service Monument Monday in Mill Creek Park in South Portland. The ceremony followed a parade along Broadway that began near the campus of Southern Maine Community College.
