FREEPORT — L.L. Bean has submitted a plan to the Project Review Board to demolish the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream shop on Main Street and creating a pedestrian plaza with brick walkways, landscaping and seating.

The proposal includes building a new, 1,300-square-foot Ben & Jerry’s store behind Abercrombie & Fitch, the former Bartol Library building, on Nathan Nye Street.

In addition, the proposal revises some enhancements to the previously approved Puffin Park Plaza between Abercrombie & Fitch and the L.L. Bean Bike, Boat and Ski store. Revisions include changes to the paver plaza and the addition of a stone seating wall.

The Project Review Board will meet for a site walk at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. The board will meet at the existing grass area next to the L.L. Bean Bike, Boat and Ski store and the public is invited to attend.

The next Project Review Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. in Town Hall.
