BOWDOIN — Belle Ethel Luetchford, 84, formerly of Solvay, N.Y., died Oct. 11.

The daughter of Harry and Ethel Luetchford, she was born and raised in Solvay, N.Y.

She lived in the family home for 80 years until 2005 when she moved to Bowdoin to live with her sister Norma and niece Kay.

A graduate of Oneonta Teachers College in 1947, she taught school for 33 years in Munnsville, N.Y. Teaching was her life and she loved all her students as if they were her own children.

She was an active member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church in New York and attended West Bowdoin Baptist Church while in Maine.

She was predeceased by her brother, Wayne H. Luetchford, in 1983.

Surviving her are a sister, Norma Huston of Bowdoin; five nieces, Kay Stevens of Bowdoin, Carry Mercogliano of New York, Susan Huston of Ohio, Cheryl Sahagan of California, and Beth Skroban of Pennsylvania, and two nephews, Kin Huston of Washington, and Brian Luetchford of Pennsylvania; seven great-nieces and nine great- nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.

Memorial services were held in New York.

Arrangements are by Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick, ME.
