FALMOUTH — Officials are encouraging residents to lock down their trash and food and be on the lookout for a small black bear.
Police, with the help of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, are trying to find the bear that was spotted near Mountain and Blackstrap roads.
Police on Wednesday said they received several calls that the bear was seen behind homes, looking for food. There were no reports of the animal displaying aggressiveness towards humans or animals.
Residents were asked to secure any food, trash and bird feeders that may attract the bear.
