2/2 April Smeal, 36, of Cottage Street, was arrested on Cottage Street on a charge of aggravated marijuana cultivation.

2/2 Warner Hinkley, 39, of Cottage Street, was arrested on Cottage Street on a charge of aggravated marijuana cultivation.

Summonses

1/26 Duane Toothaker, 41, of State Road, West Bath, was issued a summons by Officer Andrew Booth at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick on charges of operating after suspension, following a motor vehicle accident that day. On Feb. 1 he was charged on State Road, West Bath, with illegally attaching improper plates. Both charges stemmed from the accident.

2/2 at 11 a.m. Officers from the Bath Police and Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s departments, as well as the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, used a warrant to search a Cottage Street residence. The search led to residents April Smeal, 36, and Warner Hinkley, 39, being arrested on a charge of aggravated marijuana cultivation. Among items seized were more than 100 marijuana plants, seven long guns, hallucinogenic mushrooms, assorted drug paraphernalia, marijuana and marijuana seeds. The crime was considered aggravating since the residence is within 1,000 feet of a school zone. If convicted, each person could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
