Have register, will travel

1/28 at about 8 p.m. A clerk working at the Clipper Mart on Leeman Highway reported the theft of a cash register. She told Bath Police she was in the store’s cooler when she heard someone enter the store. She reported walking out a short time later to discover the cash register gone and items knocked to the floor. A search for the suspect was unsuccessful, but a small amount of cash and some evidence related to the theft were found at a parking lot adjacent to the CarQuest store at 125 Leeman Highway. The store’s security video recorded the theft, and the suspect appeared to be a white male about 5 feet 10 inches wearing a tan jacket with a green collar, a shopping bag on his head, and brown Carhartt-style pants. The video also showed what looks like the same person about 10 minutes earlier, entering and looking around the store, without the bag on his head and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a white symbol on the left side of the shirt. Police would also like to speak with anyone who may have seen someone hanging around the Clipper Mart or CarQuest between 7:15 and 8 p.m. that night. Those with information are asked to call the Detective Division at 443-8367.
