BRUNSWICK — Students from a Bath fine art photography class are showing their skills in an exhibit that opens Monday, Dec. 19.

The works will be displayed at the Back Street Bistro at 11 Town Hall Place, where an opening will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission.

Featured artists from the class, part of Regional School Unit 1 adult education program, are Kathy Allaker, Chrystina Box, Jennifer Clark, Vanessa Leeman, John Morgan, Alice Rivero, Jeff Smat, Shannon Thorne and instructor Roger S. Duncan.

Smat, organizer of the exhibit, said Tuesday that Back Street Bistro has expressed a willingness to display the works for two or three months. He said the students have learned not just about making photographs, but also about presentation and framing.

“And then, at the end, the final project of this class is to take something and hang it,” he said. “So it gives people that haven’t ever done this before … an opportunity to hang something, and it also builds their confidence. … It is a big confidence booster for real beginning people to do this.”
