BATH — Patten Free Library will host “Debating the Criminal Justice System: Rehabilitation or Retribution,” an exhibition of debating techniques and procedure by two state high school debate champions.

Kyle Hietala of Bath and Ben Dobbins of Falmouth will discuss the issue Saturday, May 25. The demonstration is free and open to the public; it will start at 10:30 a.m. in the library’s second-floor Community Room.

“This is the first program offered by our new Teen Library Council, and has been organized by council member David Rice, a sophomore at Morse (High School), who is also a debater,” library Director Lesley Dolinger said in a press release. “He will also be moderating the event. It should be entertaining and informative for anyone with an interest in politics, history, philosophy, or government.”
