BATH — Patten Free Library will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its founding with a fundraising open house and raffle Friday, Dec. 30.

The 33 Summer St. library will close at 1 p.m. and re-open for the 5-8 p.m. event, with music by Jud Caswell, sweets and a cash bar. Only 125 tickets, at $25 each, will be sold; they can be purchased in advance at the library’s circulation desk or at patten.lib.me.us.

Edgecomb artist Roger Barry has donated a handcrafted reliquary, a box used to store relics, to be raffled off at the event. The 12-by-8-by-8-inch walnut box contains an embedded photo of the original library, with the library’s mission statement carved into the front. It is valued at $1,300.

Raffle tickets can be purchased at the library’s circulation desk, the library bookstore (194 Front St.), and Now You’re Cooking (49 Front St.) from Dec. 13-30. One ticket can be purchased for $20, or three for $50.
