BATH — The Patten Free Library is again offering its “Food for Fines” program , from Tuesday, Nov. 27, to Saturday, Dec. 8.

The library will allow patrons to “pay” overdue fines by bringing in a donation for the Bath Area Food Bank. One dollar in fines will be removed from a library account for each packaged item turned in. Library staff will deliver the items to the food bank.

The Library still requires payment for items that have been damaged or lost.

The Food Bank needs canned vegetables, baked beans, meat and tuna; canned or dry fruit, soup, juice, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, pasta, peanut butter, toilet paper, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Items that are damaged, have an expired date or are contained in glass will not be accepted.
