BATH — The city is one of 14 Maine communities to receive a Community Development Block Grant as part of National Community Development Week, April 8-14.

Bath was awarded $260,000 by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. The funds – matched by $110,000 from the Bath Water District and $70,000 from the city – will go toward replacement this summer of water mains and repair of sewer pipes.

Water main replacement will take place on Bailey, Fitts and Tallman streets, which form a sort of horseshoe off North Street, Public Works Director Peter Owen said Tuesday. Fitts Street and part of North Street will see sewer pipe replacements. A portion of a sewer pipeline will also be replaced on Granite Street.
