BATH — Three candidates hope to fill the Ward 7 City Council seat left vacant by the Sept. 28 death of Councilor Ruthe Pagurko.

Larry Scott of Washington Street, and Old Brunswick Road residents Leverett Mitchell and Cal Stilphen filed nomination papers to serve the final year of Pagurko’s three-year term.

Stilphen, a former insurance risk manager who is now semi-retired, ran unsuccessfully against Pagurko in her 2010 bid for a third council term. Mitchell, Bath’s former fire chief, served on the City Council from 2002 to 2008. Scott is a retired businessman.

The special election, authorized by the City Council Oct. 3, will be held during the Tuesday, Nov. 6, general election, when ballots will also be cast for the three-year Ward 2, 3 and 4 council seats. Voting will take place at Bath Middle School from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
