BATH — After the success of the July 19 downtown “cash mob,” the mass shopping event returns to the City of Ships on Thursday, Aug. 23.
Through the mob, the kind of which happens around the country, shoppers raid a certain store and give it a boost in cash. “Mobsters” plan to spent at least $20 in cash, and a store is chosen for the mob that has items appealing to men and women and that sell for $20 or less, but its identity remains a secret until the crowd assembles.
The most recent mob was at Etc. Finery. The Aug. 23 event will be held at 5:30 p.m., and participants can meet under the clock at the corner of Front and Centre streets. The chosen store will be identified, and following shopping there, the mobsters can hang out with friends at a nearby restaurant/bar.
