BATH — Barbara Wilson Beck, 76, died Aug. 9 at Hill House in Bath.
Born in Berlin, N.H., Oct. 11, 1934, a daughter of Dr. Harry M. Wilson, and Alberta Wight Wilson, she was raised in Bethel, and eventually Bath, where the family resided for many years.
She graduated from Morse High School in 1952, from Lasell College in Auburndale, Mass., in 1955, and also attended the University of Maine.
On June 29, 1956, she married James W. Beck of Woolwich, and had three children together. Over the years she taught school in Bath, Bucksport and Gardner.
A life-long Episcopalian, she had a generous, loving heart and fun-loving spirit. She was dedicated to her family and friends and was fond of holiday celebrations, cooking and baking.
For many years she was an active volunteer with Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where she served as a corporator and former board member of the hospital auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, James W. Beck of Bath; her brother, Harry M. Wilson, II, of Pittston; her daughter, Katherine Beck Whittemore of Harpswell, and two sons, David Wilson Beck, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Daniel Wight Beck, of Manchester; grandchildren: Lincoln Beck Erhard of Boston, Mass., Caitlin Alberta Erhard of Cambridge, Mass., Timothy J. Whittemore of Anne Arbor, Mich., Samuel E. Whittemore of Rwanda, Africa, and Jami Beck Hewes of Spartanburg, S.C., John David Beck, of Crestview, Fla., Tyler Steven Beck, of Readfield, Brooke Ashley Beck, of Readfield, Lyndsay Brooke Cochrane of Chicago, Ill., Matthew, Madeline, and Katie Beck of Manchester; her nephew, Harry M. Wilson, III of Skowhegan, and two nieces, Jennifer Ann Wilson and Rebecca Ann Wilson McFarland, both of West Gardner; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Grace Episcopal Church, 1100 Washington St., Bath, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13. A reception will follow in Tubbs Hall.
Arrangements are by David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.
Flowers are welcome. Donations may also be made to the Barbara Wilson Beck Memorial Endowment Fund at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
