BRUNSWICK — Barbara W. MacLean, 86, died Nov. 11 at Mid Coast Senior Health Care Center.
She was born in Hartford, Conn. on Dec. 13, 1924, the daughter of Chester R. and Elsie Canfield Wells. She graduated from Wethersfield High School and later attended the University of Hartford. On Dec. 15, 1951, she married Richard L. MacLean.
She was first employed at General Life Insurance before working in the U.S. Navy Intelligence Department in Washington D.C. She worked at Hardenburg Insurance Agency in Camden, N.J. before retiring in 1961. In 1967, she and her husband purchased a summer home in Bremen and in 1986, they bought a home in Brunswick.
MacLean was an active volunteer at the Curtis Memorial Library.
She is survived by her husband Richard of Brunswick; sister Shirley C. Dalbeck and her husband Richard of Cape Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
At her request, services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
