HARPSWELL — Barbara Meunier, 56, of Perry Lane, died Aug. 28 after courageously fighting illness for six years.

She was born July 1, 1959, as Barbara Wagner in Santa Barbara, California. She was later adopted by her father, Roger N. Meunier.

Barbara attended schools in Cambria, California, and Pembroke, New Hampshire, and graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1977.

She joined the U.S. Navy in 1977 as a photograher’s mate, and was stationed at Moffit Field in California. After the Navy, Meunier earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire.

Meunier loved her family, her friends and all animals.

She was predeceased by her father.

She is survived by her mother, Sharon Perry-Meunier, of Harpswell; her brother, Travis Wagner and his wife, Amelia, of Portland; her brother, Boyd Smith, his wife, Annette, and their children, Elliot and Corinne, of Concord, New Hampshire; her grandmother, Barbara Perry, of Pembroke, New Hampshire; and many cousins.

A celebration of Meunier’s life will be held at a later date. To honor her memory, the family asks that instead of flowers, donations be sent to the Coastal Humane Society, 190 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
