CAPE ELIZABETH — Barbara K. Civile, 87, formerly of Pleasant Avenue, died Dec. 15, at the Barron Center following a long illness.

She was born in Biddeford to the late Chester P. Sr. and Margaret A. Brownlee Keefe and graduated from South Portland High School with the class of 1946. Civile continued her education at Northeastern Business School. On Nov. 8, 1957, she married John J. Civile in Portsmouth, N.H.

Civile worked at Frost Mimeograph Company for 25 years before it closed. She was then an administrative assistant for Century 21 the Balfour Group, a position which she held for 12 years before retiring in 1996. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, puzzles, camping and following the stock market. Her greatest love, however, was the time she spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Civile was predeceased by her husband, John J. Civile, in 1999, and a sister, Peggy Warren.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Turner, of Falmouth and Caroline Pelletier, of Scarborough; a brother, Chester P. Keefe II, of Ogunquit; seven grandchildren, Scott, Joe, Katie, Meghan, Jim, Samantha, and Abbey; three great-grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, and Ian; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.

Those who wish, may make contributions to Barron Center Resident Activity Fund, 1145 Brighton Ave., Portland, ME 04102.
