ORR’S ISLAND — Barbara E. Hillman, 64, died April 22 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

She was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on July 8, 1944, the daughter of Alvah and Frances (Grant) Hall.

After graduating from Calais High School, she attended the University of Maine at Orono and studied nursing. She also attended college in Boston.

She was a self-employed accountant for many years and also worked at Cook’s Lobster House at Bailey Island for 28 years.

Her interests included knitting, needlepoint and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of seven years, Wyn Kahler of Orr’s Island; her daughter, Beth Sylvester and her husband Jes of Orr’s Island; 11 grandchildren, Katie Sylvester, Jackie Sylvester, Jesse Sylvester, Lisa Christensen, Jason Hillman, Shannon Lamb, Nikki Peters, Nick Christensen, Ryan Hillman, Hailey Lamb, and Kyrsten Peters; and many friends and extended family.

A memorial service was held last week.

Arrangements are by Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
