SOUTH PORTLAND — An east-end bar and a west-end restaurant were cited by South Portland police for serving alcohol to minors.

Sgt. Steven Webster said in a press release that the Spring Point Tavern, on Benjamin Pickett Street near Southern Maine Community College, and Pom’s Thai Restaurant, on Western Avenue, served alcohol to minors who were part of an undercover alcohol sting conducted by police.

Police used under-aged students from SMCC and the University of Southern Maine to conduct compliance checks at 29 bars and restaurants licensed to sell alcohol on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Webster said the employees who served the minors received summonses. A record of the violations will be sent to the state Department of Public Safety, which issues liquor licenses.
