SOUTH PORTLAND — A South Portland attorney has been reprimanded by the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar for failing to properly supervise his non-lawyer staff.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court on March 25 suspended attorney Paul Latourneau from practicing law for six months. The sentence, however, was suspended provided Latourneau narrow the scope of his practice and undergo bi-weekly monitoring of his case load.

According to court documents, Latourneau’s criminal defense and family law firm was too busy for him to manage. Nine of his clients filed complaints of neglect. The court ordered the attorney to restrict his practice to criminal defense.
