SOUTH PORTLAND — KeyBank announced a $500,000 donation to Southern Maine Community College for use toward a student success initiative.

The grant is the largest ever made by the KeyBank of Maine Foundation.

According to a press release, the Path to Graduation (P2G) initiative will “guide students to college completion and strengthen their personal and academic development.”

The money, which will be donated over a three-year period, will provide students with scholarship funds and success coaches to assist them with education and career planning, college skills, financial literacy, and academic and personal achievement.

Approximately 90 students are expected to participate in the program during the 2014-15 school year, with 150 participants expected in future years. Those students who successfully complete the first year of P2G will serve as mentors for the next incoming class.
