Althea Kastelic, an incoming freshman, paints a Casco Bay High School corridor Monday, Aug. 25, in Portland with her mother, Jenny Kastelic, during a two-day beautification project to prepare for the new school year, which begins Sept. 2. Principal Derek Pierce said the school’s interior space grew by 40 percent when School Department offices moved to the former Goodwill Industries building on Cumberland Avenue. The high school at 196 Allen Ave. added two classrooms, office space and 60 students this year, and still plans to add a chemistry lab, more classrooms and 60 more students. CBHS is a school of choice for more than 300 students.
