SCARBOROUGH — The Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center is seeking volunteers to help search for invasive plants, called phragmites australis, in the marsh.

The center will hold a training session on July 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the survey of the marsh will be held on July 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Alternative dates are available for those unable to make the July 10 training.

Volunteers will be trained in how to spot the plants and how to map the GPS coordinates of the plants’ locations. No experience is necessary.

To register for the training and the survey, call the Center at 883-5100 or e-mail smac@maineaudubon.org.
