FALMOUTH — The 27th annual Apple Day Celebration is Oct. 3-4 at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center, 20 Gilsland Farm Road.

On Friday, Oct. 3, John Bunker, apple tree expert and board member of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, will present a history of apple trees in Maine, how orchards help bees and other pollinators, and tips for planting a successful apple tree. There will also be a tasting of hard cider, mead and fruit wine from local producers. The 21-plus event will cost $10 for members and $15 for the public.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, there will be family events from 10 a.m.-2:00 p.m., including crafts, live music, a scavenger hunt, apple toss, cider press, face painting, live beehive and membership deals. The event is free for members and $7 for the public; children under 2 are free.
