YARMOUTH — In addition to all of the other diversions at the Yarmouth Clam Festival last weekend, there were also athletic competitions, including a road race, bike race and tennis.

The Pat’s Pizza Clam Festival Classic 5-mile race was held Saturday and a familiar name took the title. North Yarmouth’s Ben True, a one-time Greely High and Dartmouth College standout, was first in a time of 23 minutes, 27 seconds. Falmouth’s Matt Dunlap was runner-up (26:01). North Yarmouth’s Claton Conrad came in third (26:05). Yarmouth’s Christian Muentener came in eighth (27:04). Freeport’s Josh Zolla was ninth (27:08). Falmouth’s Marc Halverson placed 10th (27:27).

Falmouth’s Sheri Piers was the fastest woman and was 13th overall (27:51). A total of 787 runners completed the course.

Sunday morning, the Clam Festival bike race was held. Saco’s Dan Vaillancourt won the men’s pro 1/2/3 category, coming in first (out of 79 finishers) in a time of 1 hour, 26 minutes, 3.41 seconds.

On the women’s side, Rebecca Wellons, of Woburn, Mass., repeated with a time of 45 minutes, 47.56 seconds.

The annual Betty Blakeman Memorial tennis tournament, which benefits the Maine Cancer Foundation, also finished up Sunday, with some familiar names taking top honors.

On the men’s side, Topsham standout Mike Hill was a 6-4, 6-3 victor over four-time defending champ Brian Powell.

Falmouth’s Christine Ordway repeated as women’s champion with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Pam Dodman.

In mixed doubles, Ordway teamed with Jason Terry to win the crown. Hill and Brian Mavor won the men’s doubles title.
