In a new exhibit, “Water/Form/Stone,” painter and Peaks Island resident Jeanne O’Toole Hayman says she departs from her earlier, more literal style to “look more deeply into the essence of things.” Works such as “Emerging Women” attempt to capture the natural, fundamental processes of birth, aggregation and decay. The exhibit opens Sept. 4 during First Friday Art Walk in Portland, at 3fish Gallery, 377 Cumberland Ave.
