It took a lifetime for Margareta “Meta” McDonald to become an artist, but it was time well spent. Raised in Stockholm, she taught schools in Sweden, Montreal and Hong Kong and saw her children through college before she began to explore her lifelong love of painting. McDonald now studies abstract painting at the Maine College of Art, belongs to a painting group and enters exhibits. “After living in so many cultures, I finally feel that I have come home to Maine,” said McDonald. “I paint to celebrate life. I see my life in warm and happy colors.” To view McDonald’s work, visit Merrill Memorial Library, 215 Main St., Yarmouth, Nov. 2 through Jan. 9 during library hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
